Book Review: Paradisa by Michelle Iannantuono

Whew, it’s been a little while, but I finally finished my first book for the new year! Now, just because it took me a while to finish it does not mean Paradisa, by Michelle Iannantuono was at all bad. In fact, it was pretty awesome! I was just extremely busy in my personal life and had a tough time squeezing in moments to read this fantasy novel.

Fan Art Friday: Kristen Stewart

I’ll admit that it took me a long while to warm up to the acting chops on Kristen Stewart. Sure, she was good in Panic Room and Speak, but everyone knows she was an abysmal choice for Bella Swan in the Twilight franchise. However, just like her awkward co-star Robert Pattinson, she’s also been making some smart and fun choices in the indie film world since then. If I had to recommend some, my favorites have been Personal Shopper and Happiest Season, but really you could take your pick of the litter for anything post-Twilight. Seriously, give her another chance!

Prodigal Son Season 2 Premiere

It’s been a minute since this mediocre procedural, serial killing show was on the air, but now Prodigal Son is back and I watched the second season premiere with some trepidation. During the first season run I know I made my feelings clear about how I felt let down by all the potential this show had to offer. No, at this point I’m not expecting it to be the next Hannibal, but just give me something!

Avatar Age of Dreams Concert Review

Still no live shows for the time being, so the Swedish heavy-metal band, Avatar, has decided to take a really creative route for the live-stream concert experience. For each weekend in January, the band will be putting on a concert, each with its own unique title. This week’s was the Age of Dreams, while the next three weekends we can enjoy Age of Illusions, Age of Madness, and Age of Memories. Collectively, the band is referring to all of this as “An Impossible Concert Experience.”

Book Review: Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer

It’s been a little while since I watched the movie Spontaneous, which is based off this novel of the same name by Aaron Starmer. This book was more than I expected and that’s because the film served it justice. Navigating a strange spontaneous combustion outbreak among a senior class, this book had sharp and witty dialogue, as well as keeping you on your toes.

Fan Art Friday: Sullivan

It’s been a slow art week for me, so you get to see a throwback mixed-media piece I did for one of my all time favorite bands, Sullivan. Their sophomore released was called Cover Your Eyes and featured some pretty intense images collaged on their cover art. It really stood out to me and along with the song “Fire Away” which had lyrics featuring the title spoke to me even more. Back in middle school I randomly stumbled upon this band, and they’ve remained one of my favorites ever since. Lead singer, Brooks Pascal has one of the most unique voices I have ever heard, and the band had some of the most intricate and big sounding songs I’ve ever listened to. I highly recommend checking out all of their work, but in the meantime, enjoy this old artwork!

Cobra Kai Season 3

Fair warning here, there will be spoilers for the latest season of Cobra Kai that was just released on January 1st. I couldn’t watch this fast enough, and just like with the first season, I binged this over the course of two days. That’s a big deal! My viewing habits don’t usually involve binging the same show for more than two episodes, so that means Cobra Kai is the real deal!
