Black Narcissus Miniseries Review

A couple of weeks ago, FX premiered an excellent British drama called Black Narcissus, and I was hooked from the start. I was actually quite sad that it was only three parts. In an interesting move on FX’s part, all three episodes aired back to back. I didn’t watch these live, so it had no impact on me, but I still thought it was an interesting move.

Book Review: We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

What can I say? I’ve been somewhat enthralled with Shirley Jackson this year and I have no reasons why! Perhaps I’ve just really been in the mood for some spooky stuff. It’s been a while, but I did watch the film adaptation of We Have Always Lived in the Castle that starred Taissa Farmiga, Alexandra Daddario, Sebastian Stan, and Crispin Glover last year. It was a really interesting film, so I’ve been eager to compare how it stacked up against its source material.

Escape at Dannemora Miniseries Review

Back in 2018 when this highly praised miniseries, Escape at Dannemora, came out I had watched the first two episodes because, you know, free Showtime. After that, it just sort of fell off my radar. I knew with the caliber of actors in the show that it would do well during awards season, and it did! Sometimes that’s all I need to know. Also, the show itself wasn’t that big of a mystery since it was based on real life events that took place only a few years prior.

With the Oscars getting pushed back to April, there is more time for contenders to release, which means I have to wait until next year for a good chunk of them. That’s why it’s exciting to get to see some now!

Fan Art Friday: Richard Reed Parry

To say I’ve been obsessed with Arcade Fire this year would be an understatement, but I don’t know how else to describe it. With words, anyways. I always find that I can express my passion for entertainment and artistry with my own artistry. And sometimes it pays off! Richard Reed Parry, the enigmatic guitarist of Arcade Fire saw this an liked it! That makes my heart so happy. So anyways, enjoy 🙂

Double Book Review!

That’s right, two times the book reviews! Mainly because I read and finished two books simultaneously this week. That usually doesn’t happen, so for this rare occasion I will give my thoughts at the same time! They were two fairly different stories. One was a romantic drama, where two very different people work though in their own way why their relationship isn’t working. The other was a thriller about a woman feeling like her life is getting turned upside down when she learns secrets about her late husband and her current husband!

The 24 Hour Plays

What a cool concept the 24 Hour Plays is! In a nutshell, a handful of writers, directors, and actors have just 24 hours to come up with an original idea and then at the end of the day have it performed live in front of a streaming audience (myself included this time around). Normally, 24 Hour Plays take place in a live setting in cities all over the world and include plays, musical, and monologues. Since the pandemic started, they’ve adapted the concept into a streaming capacity, which I think is a great way to keep the creative going!
