Roswell, New Mexico and Prodigal Son Recap

Oh, Monday. What joy you bring to my nightly television viewing. At this present moment, that’s mainly because of Roswell, New Mexico, but I can give some credit to Prodigal Son, who is airing its last handful of episodes at a snail’s pace. Either way, entertainment. In this time of self-isolation, that’s all I’m asking for. So here we go!

Roswell, New Mexico continues to deliver wonderful episodes, in my opinion. For a remake of a show about aliens that’s airing on the CW, it’s not a big ask, and it totally delivers for something not too incredibly serious. Although, I have found that it does incorporate some interesting topics, such as Isobel becoming her own advocate and still struggling with the idea of aborting her alien fetus. It’s intense stuff. Luckily, this week she was able to use her twin bond to communicate with her deceased brother, which ultimately ended up saving her life.

Elsewhere in the episode, Maria, literally the only person in the dark about all things alien, was finally clued in when she found Rosa raiding the bar for booze. She totally freaked, and was justifiably pissed at everyone for keeping her in the dark, and ultimately in danger. This means no more Michael and a seriously strained conversation with Liz. I imagine she’ll be over it soon enough. Alex also keeps digging into Michael’s mother’s past, so we got some nice flashbacks from that. Deputy Jenna Cameron also came back to town (never figured out why), but it was both odd and interesting seeing her connect with Liz. With all of that, the hour still flew by and I can’t wait for next Monday’s installment.

Prodigal Son, the seemingly never-ending procedural keeps on pumping out the episodes, but this week introduced a new face: Nicholas Endicott played by Dermot Mulroney! I am not mad about that. He’s plays another socialite that is still friends with the (un-incarcerated) Whitley’s, so we get to see Jessica attend a fancy fundraising gala. At the gala, a ballet performance turns deadly when one of the leads is poisoned. Turns out he was a Cuban escapee, but that turns the rest of the ballet company on high alert.

Meanwhile, Eve decides with Malcolm that she must confront Martin about her sister. Martin swears left and right that he didn’t kill her. When Malcolm finally concedes that he believes his father, Eve sets out on her own to find answers. Martin doesn’t like this, because Eve’s sister, Sophie, told quite a compelling story about someone who’s apparently way worse than The Surgeon: Nicholas Endicott. I must say, I am intrigued to find out how awful they make this man with only four episodes remaining. Hopefully it’s compelling! My expectations are still pretty low for this show given with how the season has played out thus far. I guess I shall wait (until April 20th!) and see.
