Book Review: The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

As interesting as Alex Michaelides’ debut novel, The Silent Patient was, I wasn’t necessarily in the market to find out about any more of his work. Strangely enough, his second novel, The Maidens, appealed to me based off the brief “new in paperback” description given in my mother’s People Magazine subscription. I only really paid attention to Michaelides as the author when I looked it up at my local library.

Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story Review

Last year after watching Dirty John, I was under the impression that this well crafted dramatization of a real-life con artist and killer was going to be a limited series, and it had run its course. Garnering a handful of well-deserved nominations (Connie Britton was fabulous), I figured it was a job well done and a nice closing of a chapter. But I was wrong! At least all of the events were more fresh in my head.

TV Review: Big Little Lies, Season 2

No offense, but I hope this is the last season of Big Little Lies we get. It was supposed to be a limited series, so this second one seems sort of forced, and not much really happens throughout the seven episodes. I feel that they ended it in a way where it can be done forever, and based on the lack of awards it’s won this awards season, it could be actually be done.

American Horror Story: 1984 Rundown

Well, five episodes in, and I am unable to see where American Horror Story: 1984 can go now.  Seriously, this last episode basically has an end for all our main characters.  That doesn’t mean I haven’t enjoyed it! In fact, its campiness and gore is everything I like about the horror genre. So with that, here’s the lowdown on what’s happened at Camp Redwood.
