I have to say, it was kind of an underwhelming weekend of movies, but I was busy. Here’s hoping I make up for it next weekend.

Weekend Movie Review
Look, the theater offerings have been scarce. I’m looking forward for what’s to come the rest of the month, but for this past weekend I settled on some interesting rentals.

All new movies! That’s right, everything this weekend was new! How exciting!
Read moreBook Review: The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman
Don’t ask me why I let at least four years pass between reading the second novel of Lev Grossman’s trilogy and the final installment, The Magician’s Land. Especially don’t ask me why I bought the book two years ago and just let it sit there on my shelf. I have no logical reasons.

It’s crazy to think we only have one week of October left, but here we are. Anyways, I’ve tried to make time for scary movies this month, so here’s what made the cut. (And there will be more to come next week!).

Now, based on the title of Rainbow Rowell’s latest book, Any Way the Wind Blows, one would think this is a song about Queen. It’s been a good couple years since the finale of Shadowhunters aired, and just about two years since I’ve last read anything about this wonderful cast of characters, so when I saw I’d been sleeping on the release of the second book in the Eldest Curses trilogy, The Lost Book of the White, I immediately went to my local library to rent it out. It was a quick read, given how much I love the series, and this adventure was just as fun as the first outing of the trilogy!

In the past month, I’ve managed to get back into the swing of reading (by the pool anyways), and have finished Terri Blackstock’s If I Run trilogy. I bought the first novel for cheap at a bookstore, and I thought it was pretty intriguing and not a super taxing read, so I decided to continue on. Truthfully, when I looked up Terri Blackstock to see what the other novels were called, I was surprised to discover that she is a Christian author, mainly because faith was discussed so little throughout the first book.

I think after almost a year I finally got around to reading the second book in The Magicians trilogy, The Magician King. Holy hell was this a slow read. Despite it being better than the first, it still took me a good while to finish, and I’m not particularly looking forward to reading the last installment. But I’m going to finish it because I feel like I have to if I want to watch the show.
