What a strange, strange comedy Kidding was. This two-season show starring Jim Carrey had me confused from start to finish. I recognize it was more of a dark comedy, but even the premise had me feeling sort of out of body. It probably also didn’t help that it took place in Ohio. Strange.

Servant Season 1
It’s official, Apple+ has the strangest catalog of shows out there, and Servant basically made that decision for me. I recall back when the streaming service launched, this was one of the first shows it premiered. The fact that it was produced by M Night Shyamalan was supposed to be the big seller here, and I guess it was because that’s ultimately why I watched it. That, and it was shrouded in mystery! If someone had asked me what I thought the show was about all I could was “a baby.”

Well, I got Apple + back in order to watch Sofia Coppola’s latest film, so I figured it’d be a good opportunity to a watch a couple more shows in their catalog. I feel like I’ve grown to love Workaholics much sooner than I did for the last long-running comedy I watched, but I suppose it’s easier to relate to these guys because they are in their 20s and in an office setting. I mean….that’s probably all I can relate to because their personal lives are a tornado and that’s just not me, but their antics make for some amazing comedy. Most of the scenes that have me laughing the hardest are completely unexpected and it elicits a surprised burst of laughter from me. Kudos to them because I feel like that’s hard to do!

So many exploding heads! Or crushed heads? I’m still convinced that the escapee from last week’s hospital encounter is behind this somehow. And come on, from a show like The Boys, does exploding heads really seem like that big of a surprise? Well, it shouldn’t if you’ve been watching.

I keep chugging along through shows with my new Apple+ subscription, and next on my list was a show I was really excited about when I first saw an advertisement for it, Defending Jacob. Sure, it’s got everyone’s favorite Captain America, Chris Evans, and Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery, but the premise just sounded so intriguing that I was going to watch it regardless of its leads.
