As usual, here is the weekly recap of the current dramas I’m watching. Enjoy!

City on a Hill – Season 1
Admittedly, I’m not getting through Showtime’s catalog all that quickly given how little time I have left with the service, but still. At my dad’s recommendation, I decided to give the crime drama City on a Hill a chance. He and I usually have a similar taste in shows, and while he liked this series, he said it wasn’t great. That should have been my first clue.

Another week closer to everyone’s fall favorites, means another episode of my weekly summer dramas coming and going. Both were solid efforts this week, and sometimes I wish the weeks would go faster so I can get the next installment. I’m not really a binge-watcher by any means, but sometimes I want to watch a movie’s worth of television! Anyway, let’s get into it.

I don’t know why this show never stood out to me during the countless times I’ve viewed Milo Ventimiglia’s filmography, but here we are! Mob City might not be something that would usually catch my interest, but I can watch a noir about gangsters here and there. It might help that these are real gangsters and that the cast is out of this world! Anyways, let’s dive in to this short-lived series.

I know I was a little late in last week’s review of Animal Kingdom and Roswell, New Mexico, but this week I’m on it! Can’t say it will ever happen again, but you’ll just have to come back to find out. Anyways, lots of development this week, and of course…lots of drama!

Finally, I am putting my Showtime subscription to good use! Back when I had the service briefly in 2020, Kidding was totally worth my time, but I ran out of it for this lauded comedy. I know Black Monday recently aired its third season, but I had to start from the top, and it’s been a pretty fun ride so far.

Back at the end of 2020 and start of 2021 when the limited series, Your Honor, aired, I was really bummed I didn’t have Showtime at the time. Well, now that I have it and have seen this series, I can say that it wasn’t totally worth it. That’s right, even a series with the mob, murder, and Bryan Cranston couldn’t make it land with me.

Just because it’s summertime doesn’t mean there’s nothing on TV! It probably also helps that the pandemic severely delayed some shows. For instance, I get new Animal Kingdom and Roswell, New Mexico because of it! Not that I’m all that happy that things got delayed, but I’m glad everyone stayed safe, employed, and managed to produce some good television at the end of it all. Let’s get into it then, shall we?

It’s sort of crazy to think that Loki is the third Marvel series to wrap up this year already! Right off the bat I’m going to tell you that it still doesn’t beat out WandaVision as my favorite Marvel television offering, but it’s got Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, so it’s up there. Be warned there are some spoilers ahead!

Ugh! I feel like eons have passed since the first season of this delightful comedy aired, and now I learn this is the only other season I’ll ever get of Special?! Not cool. But, I mean…it is cool there are new episodes to be had. Brilliant in it’s own unique way, Special follows Ryan, a gay man with mild cerebral palsy and how he navigates life professionally and personally.
