Weekend Movies in Review

Whew! I really packed ’em in this weekend! I would say all these films were certified blockbusters, so enjoy!

Motherless Brooklyn – Based on the novel of the same name, Edward Norton wrote, directed, and starred in this adaptation. It centers on Lenny, an investigator with Tourette Syndrome in 1950s New York, looking to find who’s responsible for the murder of his mentor. This film was full of suspense, twists, and grade A dialogue. Not to mention an incredible cast!

Charlie’s Angels – This reboot by Elizabeth Banks centers on the retirement of Charlie’s original assistant, John Bosley, and the protection of scientist, Elena, from whoever is trying to get their hands on the potentially lethal prototype, Callisto. Full of unlikely friendships, some hilarious dialogue, and an almost mute assassin, this was a fun and high-energy reboot. If you’re looking for something fun to watch, I’d recommend.

Ford v Ferrari – The car-lovers dream, Ford v Ferrari centers on the real life race to see who makes the better race car. Matt Damon and Christian Bale play two passionate hot heads, who just want to make the best car and win races. The chemistry between the two at first didn’t quite register for me, but their friendship was the root of this movie. If you don’t feel like smashing your gas pedal into the floor after watching this movie, did you really even see it?

Midway – This movie details the attacking of Pearl Harbor and then how those dwindled number of men got together to defeat the Japanese at Midway. There was a lot of action and a lot of planes, but there were too many cast members to try and pay attention to. I’ve seen better war movies, and so can you.
