Based on how awesome the movie The Dry was that I watched a couple weeks ago, I knew I had to get my hands on the debut novel written by Jane Harper. Because the movie was so well reviewed, I just knew that the book would be equally as awesome if not better. It is quite rare for a film adaptation of a novel to do so well, and in this case, be so faithful.

Tribeca Film Festival (At Home) – Week 1
As the world slowly starts to open back up, that means far away film festivals will once again become inaccessible to me unless I’m willing to travel and drop a lot of cash. Which, I’m not saying it’ll never happy, but for now I’m still glad to be offered a chance to partake in these awesome festivals from the comfort of my own home! Case in point: the Tribeca Film Festival! This is the first United States film festival that is taking place in person since the pandemic started, but they are still offering at home viewings of almost everything (except for No Sudden Move which I’m upset about). This festival takes place over the course of two weeks, so I’m splitting up my haul between the two, so here’s the first batch!

I believe Jean Smart just knocks anything she’s in out of the park, and this HBO Max original comedy is no exception. Coming strong off the heels as the matriarch of Mare of Easttown, Hacks is decidedly quite opposite in terms of subject matter, but don’t be fooled into thinking there are no serious moments in this series.

I really believe this is the last of the live stream concerts, and I couldn’t be more excited by that! What a great way to end this strange fad with by seeing a band really get to live out there dream? That’s right, Motionless in White front man, Chris Motionless has always wanted to perform at a cool venue like a haunted house. He got pretty close by getting to stream a show at Pennsylvania’s haunted Pennhurst Asylum.

Also known as Tom Hiddleston, but since Loki premiered this week I figured I’d repost the one drawing I have of it’s lead. For whatever reason, I was also reminded of the time in the fall of 2019 when I got to see him in the flesh acting in a play called Betrayal on Broadway. Ah, the sweet, sexy memories.

While not as ambitious as last holiday weekend, I still got a fair share of films in! Some were deserving repeats (in my opinion) while the remaining went back in time a little bit. Also, I’m pretty sure I found a new movie to add to my all-time weird list! That’s seriously quite an honor, because it’ll probably get brought up in conversation at least a few times a year. Anyway, let’s go!

I’ve officially met the end of the road for another world renouned comedy. It’s been a long time coming, but Silicon Valley has finally become a part of my life and I am happier for it! Seriously, this show produced a lot of laughs and I really couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Read moreBook Review: Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness
It took me a little while, but I finally finished the second book in Deborah Harkness’ All Souls Trilogy, Shadow of Darkness. Now, similar to the second season of A Discovery of Witches, this book wasn’t really my favorite, but there were still parts to enjoy.

I don’t believe a single film I watched over this holiday weekend was in any way patriotic, but that did not make them any less enjoyable! Here we go with some high level recaps and my honest two cents.

Beware of spoilers in this post! There, that’s all the warning you’re going to get about I. It’s hard to review this masterpiece of a miniseries without at least somewhat spoiling all the twists and turns that went down. In just seven episodes, this series managed to hook me from the get-go, and also manage to crash HBO Max during the finale. That’s how freaking good this mystery crime thriller is.
