Well folks, I feel like a full-length album from I Don’t Know How But They Found Me has been a long time coming. The band itself formed nearly five years ago, with the last new material coming in the form of a Christmas EP back in 2019. They finally put out a complete work entitled Razzmatazz, that seems stylistically different than their initial EP from 2018, 1981 Extended Play. I didn’t really love that EP, so I was hesitant and then pleasantly surprised when I finally sat down and get the album a listen!

Ah, back to normal viewing levels this weekend after last week’s insanely busy slate full of Sundance Film Festival entries. Actually, I’d consider this a pretty low count! And truth be told, none of these were real winners despite the hype for at least one of them.

Since the month of Avatar is over and it’s clear there will still be no live shows anytime soon, I decided to scour the internet to see if any of my other favorite bands were streaming shows. I was in luck to find out that Silverstein we’re doing something a little bit similar to Avatar in that they will be putting on three different shows for the rest of the Saturdays in February as part of their Out of This World Concert Series. Yay me! One that stood out the most to me from this trio was the very first option, Greatest Hits. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been listening to Silverstein for a very long time, but this just seemed like the best way to hear all of my favorites at once.

Love the reliability of network television in that I get new episodes every week. Yes, it’s nice that certain streaming services dump all of their content at once, but sometimes you never know when you’re going to see that next season (here’s looking at you, Special!). Network television reliably airs weekly in the spring and fall, with a winter break. I love it. Anyways, here’s what happened this week in drama.

I realize we’re almost to the new weekend, but I felt the need to highlight some other new films I managed to squeeze in between all of my Sundance selections!

And they keep on coming! The Sundance Film Festival is a week-long endeavor, so that means while ideally I’d get to watch everything I want on the weekend, realistically there are some I’ve got to wait for. But they are worth the wait! Also, it worked out for me that none of these interfered with my day job! Another strong lot of films, so let’s get into it!

Talk about a throwback! This last installment of Avatar’s Impossible Concert Experience threw us all the way back to the beginning stages of the band’s existence. Thus the name, Age of Memories. What was neat about this last leg is that almost the entire set list hadn’t been played in a live capacity for almost a decade! In fact, newest band member Tim (as of 2011) hadn’t played any of these before! That’s crazy.

I suppose this is days one and two for me, when in actuality they are days 2 and 3. Whatever, those are just small details. The real story lies in the films I’ve been able to watch! Some have been very entertaining, while some just sort of pass the time. Luckily, none have outright disappointed me, and that’s a wonderful thing!

I’m glad I finally got the time to watch this insanely buzzed about show, I May Destroy You. It’s sure to be snatching up a bunch of awards in the coming months, and I love a little indie show with a lot of love. Truth be told, this wasn’t my favorite, but that’s probably got more to do with the fact that it wasn’t like a typical show that I watch. Nothing can deny the talent that lives within show’s creator Michaela Coel, and she took us all on a very personal and sometimes wild ride.

With a new week this month comes the return of some more of my favorite shows! Well, the return was of Big Sky, so I guess not my favorite shows, but it’s still something.
