As I mentioned before, I’m sort of obsessed with Hannibal, so I decided to get in tune with the source material. Before watching the 2002 movie of the same name, I decided I first wanted to read the 1982 Thomas Harris novel, Red Dragon. I thought this would be a good way to compare how Hannibal did and then compare it to the movie afterwards. That way, I wouldn’t accidentally overlap anything that happened.

Hannibal Season 3
In a relatively short amount of time I worked through all three seasons of NBC’s show Hannibal. Again, I never watched this while it aired, and I feel shame for that now! This show was so, so good, and the third season got even better.

I guess I don’t mean “mega” as in blockbusters, I just mean I watched six movies in three days. That would be a mega achievement for almost anyone, myself included. I will say though, that most of these were pretty mediocre, but that’s just the way it is sometimes. I won’t bore you with the details, so here’s my fast-take below:

I have just been devouring Hannibal episodes like it’s my job (it’s not) and I couldn’t be more happy with how the story is progressing! In a much shorter amount of time, I have finished the second season and I am fully anticipating the third and final season and what that will bring. Because a lot of stuff went down in this batch of thirteen episodes. SO. MUCH. BETRAYAL.

For the last several years I’ve had the show Hannibal on my radar. For whatever reason, I never really heard of or watched this show during its three season run on NBC, and that makes me a little sad. Even though I’ve only just finished the first season’s thirteen episodes, they’ve been really amazing!

All the thrillers this weekend! Mainly psychological, and those are my favorite kinds. Both are worthy of your viewing, so buckle up. I’m about to give hopefully a spoil-free review of The Invisible Man and The Lodge.

Hoo boy! Starting off the month with an excellent movie, Joker! As advertised and how one could assume, this was a very dark take on how Arthur Fleck became the Joker. We open on Arthur laughing for an almost painfully long time before we see that he’s talking to a social worker. Having previously been in an institute, Arthur now works as a clown for hire, and seemingly enjoys it. That is until he gets the crap beat out of him by some mean teens. Life just continues to pummel him throughout the rest of the movie.
