Ah, the virtual concert. That’s what we’ve been relegated to since early this year, but I’ve grown accustomed to it. At least it is some form of live and current music. Most recently to take the “stage” is former One Direction member, Louis Tomlinson, who just this year released his first solo effort. A friend and I were supposed to see him on tour over the summer, but the Coronavirus had other plans. At this moment in time, the tour is rescheduled for next year, but so far everything about next year seems up in the air. This was a nice substitute anyways.

The 24 Hour Plays
What a cool concept the 24 Hour Plays is! In a nutshell, a handful of writers, directors, and actors have just 24 hours to come up with an original idea and then at the end of the day have it performed live in front of a streaming audience (myself included this time around). Normally, 24 Hour Plays take place in a live setting in cities all over the world and include plays, musical, and monologues. Since the pandemic started, they’ve adapted the concept into a streaming capacity, which I think is a great way to keep the creative going!

The Foos have been busy since performing on Saturday Night Live the weekend after the election! They debuted a new song, announced a new record, and decided to play a virtual show! Since I was supposed to see them back in May and then October, it was a no brainer to buy a ticket to this show.

The livestream concerts continue! This time it’s was with a band I have seen many, many times before in a live setting: Motionless in White! As I’m sure I’ve said before, this is my sister’s favorite band, so I’ve seen them close to a dozen times and have grown to appreciate their work. When I saw the announcement of the “deadstream” as they called it, I thought on it for about two minutes before I dropped the cash on it. If anything, me participating in these livestreams is at least helping out bands and their crews during this hard time.

A one-off audiovisual experience from a band I love in a time of quarantine? I’ll take it! Especially if it’s coming from the likes of Glass Animals and off the heels of their most recent release, Dreamland.

Another weekend, another livestream concert. Actually, I’m saying this as if I’ve participated in a lot of them when in fact it’s only been my second one. While Anberlin was pretty great, I was very excited for and had high hopes for this concert put on by Bad Suns. I discovered this band back in 2014 with the release of their single, “Cardiac Arrest,” and I’ve sort of been obsessed with them ever since. Specifically their first full length effort, Language and Perspective, which is exactly what they were going to play through this Saturday!
