You may all be disappointed to know that I watched a respectable number of movies this weekend. Manageable even, for normal people! I only watched three films which made me a little sad, but the movies themselves were quite diverse and satisfying. I suppose I can’t complain all that much (and I can catch up next weekend).

Extended Movie Weekend
I say “extended” as if I watched a bunch of movies over a four day period, but the sad reality is that I didn’t. In fact, it was almost normal. I only managed to watch four films this weekend, and while I’m a little disappointed in myself, the total of movies I watched in September is kind of ridiculous. Anyways, check out what I found worth watching with a little time off this weekend.

Towards the start of quarantine, I went out of my way to hunt down Donald Ray Pollock’s gothic hillbilly novel, The Devil All the Time, only after learning that it was being adapted into a feature film for Netflix. I also saw the cast list, which locked in my need to read this novel ASAP. And I did! If you follow my blog at all, you probably read (or at least glanced) at my review for the novel. I really enjoyed it! Not only did it take place in my home state, but it also was graphic and violent. There was such an intricate and desolate web woven between all of these characters that really sucked me in.

I don’t know that anything I watched this weekend I planned on watching, but I have zero regrets about any of them. All were practically spur of the moment, with a few that I’d never even really heard of before. They also covered a wide array of genres which always makes for an entertaining time. I would say if you picked any of these films to watch in the future you won’t be let down. I promise!

This weekend I managed to watch some truly “excellent” movie choices, as well as venture back into the theaters. I only chose to wade back into that reality because I knew that (and was correct that) my local theater would have only 0-5 people in attendance. Regardless, I kept my mask on the whole time and made sure to steer clear of any other people. Overall, it was an unexpectedly fulfilling weekend with some truly bizarre films.

Two flops and two wins made it into this weekend. All were extremely random in terms of story line and genre, but I’ve got an eclectic taste, so nothing ever seems that out of the ordinary for me. However, this doesn’t mean that everything I pick is going to land, and I think this weekend I was hindered by not watching trailers! Yes, they tend to give everything away now, but I think it would have deterred me from watching in a couple of cases. Anyways, here we go.

New month means new movies for the weekend! Well, at least some of them were brand new, while others were old but new to me. It was an oddball mix this weekend, but I was pretty pleased with all of them. Let’s review!

I watched new movies! Yay! And at the rate this year is turning out, I may be watching several more from my home, which I can definitely work with. A wide range of films this weekend, so prepare for randomness.

In less than 72 hours, I’ve managed to squeeze five movies into my life without feeling like I’ve neglected any other area of my life. That is quite a feat! I also managed to accomplish this after cleaning up a bunch of glass off of my kitchen floor (courtesy of my cats)! As in the past few of these, rather than bore you with the details, I give my quick-take and a general summary of the films’ events in the hopes of helping you make some choices in your viewing leisure.
