Fargo – Season 4, Episode 6

According to a chaotic interview Timothy Olyphant did with Seth Meyers, I should be referring to Fargo as the “fourth installment.” Well, who really cares?! It’s all in a similar universe, and oh yeah, they are all called Fargo. So I will continue to call it the fourth season – marketing be damned! Anyways, moving on. There are five episodes remaining this season and I can’t seem to wrap my head around how they are going to drag it out. While the war is imminent, it seems like both sides are still taking shuffling little baby steps to the front line. Let me explain what I mean.

Last week, Gaetano killed Doctor Senator, which, hello. Bad move. Obviously, Loy is going to be pissed about that. He takes the newly hired outlaws and has them bring Gaetano to him for torture. I imagine he is going to get killed eventually, but I don’t think it will be while he’s in capture. When Josto hears about this, he’s also contending with the New York Italians, who want him to get Gaetano back. Bummer. He almost got rid of his problem starting baby brother. In retaliation he splits up Rabbi and Loy’s boy. He has another one of his men to take the boy out to a remote location to be killed, but Rabbi intervenes. It’s clear the two will be on the run for a little bit, but I’m sure they’ll be back before the end.

I suppose that’s the main conflict happening between the two sides this week. Playing both sides of the fence is Otis, who is seeing this take backfire on him epically. They both want his help in this war and I think he’d be smart to just disappear at this point! The guy is literally so nervous I can’t believe either side actually considers him reliable! It was also a little fun watching Deafy watch Otis get shuffled back and forth between the two groups. Based on the preview for next week it seems like Deafy might try to give him an out.

Even though it seemed like Oraetta was going to get entangled in the crossfire between the gangs, now it appears she has nothing to do with them. It’s clear that Ethelrida is in the warpath, especially because she’s been made aware of the “anonymous” letter she sent to the hospital. The details her boss reveals seems to point Oraetta in Ethelrida’s direction and I am so nervous for the girl! While Oraetta’s cunning is really intriguing, nothing seems to be developing quickly in this storyline. I am anticipating everyone’s paths to cross at some point, but at this moment I just don’t see how that will happen. I have faith, though.

This show has never let me down before and I just know this will be epic. Noah Hawley has had three years to let this story fester and I know he wouldn’t have come back with a new story if he wasn’t really excited about it. And that makes me excited! And anxious. I just want to know what happens! Maybe I have binged too many shows over quarantine…oh, well! Stay tuned to see what happens next week!
