I say nostalgic because most of what I watched was on the older side. Some were new to me, while others I just revisited, but you know I made time for some new films, too. Who would I be if I didn’t? Let’s take a stroll down memory lane first.

Movies in Review
I think it will be hard to beat the amount of movies that I did in January (thank you, Sundance), but that does not mean what I’m watching isn’t of quality and that’s all that really matters. While a good chunk of these are new, I did swing back to one of my favorites from 2020. I also managed to get the last best picture nominee in over the weekend! Let’s take a look, shall we?

I realize it is technically still winter, but we’re already a couple of weeks into March! Blame COVID, I suppose. Anyways, I know I missed out on the last several 9-1-1 Lone Star reviews, so I figured I should get you up to speed!

Well, well, well. After a whole year absent of anything Marvel, the fourth phase officially kicked off with their first ever television series, WandaVision! And the stars of this series? Wanda and the very much dead Vision…or so we think? I would suspect that it comes as no surprise to audiences that Vision is in fact still dead, and that this is just Wanda’s way of coping with her grief. But she does so in a very interesting…and morally questionable way.

I gave myself a long weekend, so that means a bunch of movies! While the weekend’s viewings started out light and fun, they eventually morphed into a more serious territory, which I really enjoyed! You know, for still being in the midst of a pandemic that keeps pushing back the release of so many films, there is still a boatload of new films to be seen! Yes, my Film Independent membership certainly helps with this, but if you look they are there. You just have to be more open to some indie titles!

Yay to season premieres! The start of this new year is starting to feel just a bit more normal with the premieres of shows I would typically watch at this time. It is strange though, especially given that cases are worse than ever. I suppose a vaccine helps, and for that I am thankful. Anyways, the train is still rolling on Prodigal Son, but this week also marked the return of 9-1-1 Lone Star.

Whew, it’s been a little while, but I finally finished my first book for the new year! Now, just because it took me a while to finish it does not mean Paradisa, by Michelle Iannantuono was at all bad. In fact, it was pretty awesome! I was just extremely busy in my personal life and had a tough time squeezing in moments to read this fantasy novel.

This weekend touted a real hodgepodge of quality. Some were pretty darn good, some were rather mediocre, and some were just downright bad. Also, I got my hands on some brand new films…although that’s not always a good thing.
